Greetings, Dear Listener,
Season 5, Episode 91, helps us make further progress through Albums that Begin with the Letter S, as in Sierra, even if we only tackle four albums in the last half of the show. These things happen.
We’ve got sci-fi scoring, indie rock royalty, TWO Lena Lovich tracks, gilded funk, a stirring ode to romance, TWO Graham Parker tracks, country rock, neo-Surf, live mesmerization, and heavy shoegaze-y goodness.
Did anything pique your interest?
Inside a Monkey’s Brain
S05E91 Cover: Han Solo (Harrison Ford) sporting a medal for his efforts in destroying the Death Star, and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) bereft of any medal whatsoever in Star Wars (Lucas, 1977). Why? We kick off this episode with a little John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra.
S05E91 Music Behind the DJ: “Gomez” by Vic Mizzy. Why? This is my favorite backing track for mic breaks, and it’s been a few episodes since I’ve used it.
S05E91 Amplifier Header Image: Principal Skinner is excited to discover limited edition Star Wars figures still in their original packaging as part of Ralph’s diorama entry in “Lisa’s Rival” (Season 6, Episode 2). Why? The Force is with us.
Issue 2 of the Vinyl-O-Matic zine is hitting the post for 78rpm tier patrons, and Video Liner notes drop for S05E91 on Friday, October 11, for 45rpm and 78rpm tier patrons.
When next we meet, we will continue our journey through albums that begin with the letter S as in Sierra. Join me, won’t you?
Enjoy!
