I like bowling. I miss bowling. Maybe you'll like bowling too after you learn how to select a ball that is right for you in this episode of Vinyl-O-Matic. No, seriously.
Season 5 Episode 43 is a fun one, although some listeners may feel the need to use the chapter function. Not to worry, you do what you need to do. Compositions for randomized harpsichord, computer, and tape manipulation is not for everybody. But there are also some classic 80s tracks, indie goodness, and more! Enjoy π
The 2021 Ear Worm of the Day playlist continues to evolve. Since the last transmission of the Amplifier, I've added songs by Gene Clark, Brix Smith, Woo, The Hollies, L.A. Witch, Heron Oblivion, and Look Jerk Soundsystem.
Inside a Monkey's Brain
S05E43 Cover Image: Harriet Walter as the excellent Dasha Duzran goes bowling in the Killing Eve episode "End of Game" (S3E7). Why? The third selection in the first set of this episode is from an album entitled How to Bowl like the Champions. And Dasha is a champion, of sorts.
S05E43 Music behind the DJ: "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" by Lawrence Welk. Why? More bowling of course. The Sons of the Pioneers rendition of "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" is prominently featured in The Big Lebowski. Also... harpsichord!
S05E43 Amplifier Header Image: Marge receives a birthday gift from Homer in The Simpsons episode "Life on the Fast Lane" (S01E09). Why? Yes, bowling. Full disclosure: I have a bowling ball, and it has my name on it (see below). I did not get it for my wife for her birthday.
I hope someday we can all go bowling again. In the meantime, when next we meet, we'll continue our journey through albums with titles that begin with the letter I as in India. Join me, won't you?
