Greatings, Dear Listener,
Season 5, Episode 92 has arrived and is ready for your consumption. This one has every kind of music but country (although there is a country-adjacent number).
We’ve got choral weather, a jazz standard, a spooky synth theme, a swingin’ pop cover, supergroup-of-sorts heaviness, a modern composition, a simple albeit jaunty song, doom boogie, a double dose of jangle, a reinterpreted Brill classic, New Wave EDM, relocated reggae, ambient folk doom, and psychedelic sugar pop.
Let me know what floats your boat in this episode.
Inside a Monkey’s Brain
S05E92 Cover: A hallucination experienced by Lighthorseman Big (Zahn McClarnon) in Season 2, Episode 8 of Reservation Dogs (Lowe, 2022): "This Is Where the Plot Thickens" 📺 Why? The final song of S05E92 is purportedly an oblique-ish reference to lysergic acid sugar cubes.
S05E92 Music Behind the DJ: “These Boots Were Made for Walking” as performed by Les Brown and his Orchestra. Why? Related to the aforementioned final song of this episode.
S05E92 Amplifier Header Image: Bart answers the door expecting to receive the Itchy and Scratchy animation cell that he ordered with one of Homer’s credit cards but is instead greeted with a threat from Frank, in Season 5, Episode 21 of The Simpsons: “Lady Bouvier’s Lover”. Why? Frank, obviously.
Video Liner Notes for S05E92 drop this Friday, October 25, for 45rpm and 78rpm tier patrons. AND October’s 45rpm Instant Record Party livestream happens this Sunday, October 27 at 5pm Pacific for all paid tiers, so there is still time to join the fun!
When next we meet, we will embark upon what should be the penultimate journey through albums with titles that begin with the letter S, as in Sierra. Join me, won’t you?
Enjoy!
